Describe an achievement that best demonstrates your resilience, initiative or leadership.

Leading a team to successfully complete our final year dissertation/thesis which required perseverance, effective communication and the ability to motivate others, especially when circumstances proved difficult. This experience strengthened my problem-solving, teamwork, and decision-making skills.

What do you believe distinguishes an exceptional lawyer from a competent lawyer?

A competent lawyer is one who understands the law and applies it accordingly. An exceptional lawyer is one who goes beyond the technicalities of knowing and understanding the law by demonstrating other vital qualities such as leadership, ethical integrity, taking initiatives and commitment to duty.

Describe a time you received constructive criticism. How did you respond?

I received comments from a lecturer after a presentation in class that demonstrated less involvement from other colleagues. The lecturer remarked that I was putting too much pressure on myself and there was the need to allow others contribute fully.

Tell us about a recent legal, business or economic development that you believe every corporate lawyer should understand.

The rapid integration of Artificial Intelligence (A.I) into business operations and the evolving legal and regulatory landscape surrounding its use. For corporate and commercial practice, there is the reliance on legal advisers by Boards of Directors to develop A.I governance frameworks, ensure regulatory compliance, allocate responsibility for A.I-related risks and establish policies that promote ethical and responsible use of AI. Understanding A.I-related issues is therefore essential.

EthicsYou discover that a senior lawyer has mistakenly included confidential information belonging to another client in a document that is about to be sent.
What would you do?

I would promptly and respectfully bring the issue to the senior lawyer's attention before the document is sent, clearly explaining that I had noticed confidential information belonging to another client had been included inadvertently. Protecting client confidentiality is fundamental at all times.
