Professional Attributes
Describe an achievement that best demonstrates your resilience, initiative or leadership.

As head of Civic Education at Active Citizen, I demonstrated leadership and initiative by representing the organization on Republic Day, delivering an online seminar advocating for renewed commitment to responsible citizenship.

What do you believe distinguishes an exceptional lawyer from a competent lawyer?

I think preparation distinguishes an exceptional lawyer from a merely competent one. Inadequate preparation can undermine even the most skilled practitioner. Therefore, an exceptional lawyer is one who prepares thoroughly before taking any action or making any decision.

Describe a time you received constructive criticism. How did you respond?

In learning to speak publicly, I was advised that I speak too quickly and am not very audible. I took this criticism seriously and recognized it stemmed from nervousness. I took deliberate steps to calm my nerves, which significantly helped me.

Commercial AwarenessBusinesses increasingly expect lawyers to provide commercially practical solutions not merely legal opinions.
Tell us about a recent legal, business or economic development that you believe every corporate lawyer should understand.

A recent development every corporate lawyer should understand is the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence and its regulation. As AI becomes increasingly integrated into business operations, from contract analysis and due diligence to decision-making algorithms and automated customer interactions, corporate lawyers must grapple with complex legal questions around data privacy, intellectual property, liability, and regulatory compliance.

EthicsYou discover that a senior lawyer has mistakenly included confidential information belonging to another client in a document that is about to be sent.
What would you do?

I would immediately inform the senior about the mistaken inclusion and the ethical rules protecting confidential information as provided under Rule 19 of the Legal Profession (Professional Conduct & Etiquette) Rules (LI 2423).
