| Why Fitch Attorneys? | |||||||||
| Why do you wish to undertake your pupillage with Fitch Attorneys? | I am drawn to Fitch Attorneys because of the breadth and depth of its corporate practice. I want to understand not only the law behind business decisions, but the reasoning and strategy that shape them. Fitch’s work across corporate, energy and trade matters particularly appeals to my interests. | ||||||||
| What attracts you to corporate and commercial legal practice? | My LLM studies and work at the Petroleum Commission have piqued my interest in corporate and commercial practice, particularly the way legal and regulatory frameworks shape business structures and commercial decisions. | ||||||||
| Are you able to fully commit to a six (6) month to one (1) year pupillage? | Yes | ||||||||
| Professional Attributes | |||||||||
| Describe an achievement that best demonstrates your resilience, initiative or leadership. | As Legal Research Clerk working with the University of Cape Coast Judicial Committee, I independently handled complex research tasks under tight deadlines. Managing high volume research required strong personal initiative, resilience under pressure, and strict attention to analytical detail. | ||||||||
| What do you believe distinguishes an exceptional lawyer from a competent lawyer? | A competent lawyer knows the law and does what is required. An exceptional lawyer knows that not every issue needs to become a conflict, and that there is always more to learn. To me, exceptional practice is knowing when to stand firm, when to find common ground and continuously learning. | ||||||||
| Describe a time you received constructive criticism. How did you respond? | I was once cautioned against over-reliance on AI for a research task. I was initially embarrassed, but I took her advice to heart and immediately adjusted my approach. Since then, I use AI as a support tool rather than primary authority. | ||||||||
| Commercial Awareness | Businesses increasingly expect lawyers to provide commercially practical solutions not merely legal opinions. | ||||||||
| Tell us about a recent legal, business or economic development that you believe every corporate lawyer should understand. | One recent development I believe every corporate lawyer should understand is Ghana’s move towards a new investment framework through the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority Act, 2026. What interests me is not simply the creation of a new investment authority, but what the reform says about Ghana’s changing approach to attracting and regulating investment. The framework affects issues that corporate lawyers encounter directly, including foreign investment, investment incentives etc | ||||||||
| Ethics | You discover that a senior lawyer has mistakenly included confidential information belonging to another client in a document that is about to be sent. | ||||||||
| What would you do? | I would immediately halt the dispatch of the document and inform the senior lawyer privately. I would present the specific section containing the confidential data so they can remove it quickly. My focus would be protecting client confidentiality, firm integrity, and resolving it discreetly. | ||||||||
